These versatile blends of French grown aromatic herbs harken back to another time. The crocks are created and filled up by hand, and a joy to both the giver and the receiver and are beautiful on a counter. Aux Anysetiers du Roy was first a restaurant in L'Ile Saint-Louis, near Notre-Dame. It specialized in Provençal cooking, and was one of the first to offer grilled meats seasoned with Provençal herbs. At the end of dinner, each customer was offered a small gift– a small Herbs de Provence crock, containing a special blend prepared by owner Louis Lombard, who was the first to include lavender flowers in the now-famous aromatic herb blend.
